Katie Price has walked back a claim that her husband Lee Andrews obtained a PhD from Cambridge University.

The 47-year-old former glamour model appeared on Good Morning Britain for the first time in years, sitting down for what was touted as a no-holds-barred interview with Susanna Reid and Ed Balls.

Chief among the lines of enquiry on the ITV morning news show was Price’s shock wedding to Dubai native Andrews, after she had met the businessman a matter of weeks prior.

Since her February nuptials made headlines, Price’s fans have sought to figure out who exactly this mystery man with a highly edited Instagram presence really is.

At the time, Andrews’s social media accounts claimed he was Dr Lee Andrews, holding a PhD from Cambridge University – although the institution has said they have no such record of him attending.

Andrews also had pictures pinned to his profile with Kim Kardashian and Elon Musk at an apparent event in Dubai for his brand, which have since been debunked as AI-generated and removed.

For the interview on GMB, Balls questioned Price on the PhD claims, to which she clarified: ‘He hasn’t got a PhD from Cambridge. It’s one in Spain. That’s for him to say why he’s got his PhD.

‘But it’s not for Cambridge. Don’t know where that came from. He hasn’t got a PhD in Cambridge at all.

‘He has got a PhD. I’ve seen it all. I’ve seen everything I need to see,’ she added, confirming it is not an honorary doctorate.

But the Cambridge claim was one that Price herself repeated as recently as a week ago, during an interview with The Sun in which she said she wasn’t certain what college he went to at the prestigious university.

‘There was so much paperwork. His PhD, I looked through everything. The stamps are in wax, some of them. They’re not fake. You know when you’ve got certificates and it’s got the watermarks, it’s all like that.

‘Everything he’s shown me is so legit. They’re not copies, they’re originals.’

However, when the publication contacted the university, they said they did not have any record of a person with his name attending, with the birth date also provided.

It comes after it was reported that Andrews has yet to settle the bill for their wedding at a luxury Dubai hotel nearly two months ago and his ex has alleged he is a scammer, comparing him to ‘the Tinder Swindler.’

Price has said the pair did not sign a prenuptial agreement before tying the knot, but told the GMB hosts that her husband is not the con artist that has been alleged.

‘I want to get to know him. He wants to get to know me,’ she said, explaining that Andrews has yet to meet her children, but has spoken to them over FaceTime.

‘No one will ever understand the way I do things.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 from 6am.
