Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter Legacy Patch Prepares for 2nd Chapter

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter terminology in English and some other languages is adjusted in a new Legacy Patch ahead of the 2nd Chapter release in September 2026. This affects both English voice actors’ pronunciation of certain terms and some in-game text for terms and UI in English, French, and German. There are also general fixes related to grammar issues. If you grab patch 1.07, then you’ll see all the changes when you next play the JRPG. People on Steam who want the fixes, but not the updated voice acting and adjustments, can get patch 1.06.3 instead of 1.07.

There are essentially five categories of terms affected by the Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter terminology patch that will also carry over to 2nd Chapter as part of the Legacy changes. Some of these involve updated pronunciations for locations like Calvard, Liberl, and Zemuria. Nihon Falcom and Gungho specifically cited the changes to Tetracyclic Towers names to be in line with past releases and prepare for the sequel, with those once again becoming the Amberl, Carnelia, Esmelas, and Saphirl Towers. Some Quartz names changed too, with ones like Arts Defense, Hidden Leaf, and Sweet Aroma becoming Shield, Cloak, and Scent. 

This is one of multiple substantial patches for Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter. Back in October 2025, there was one that added some new display options. You could hide the UI while playing after getting it. It’d also be possible to shift to a first-person perspective.

Adjusted English Terminology

Several major terms have been adjusted to align with terminology used in later titles in the series. Our overall goal with these updates was to align key in-game terminology and pronunciations with other titles in the Trails series. However, with the upcoming release of 2nd Chapter, we also felt it was important to preserve the experience of players who started the series with Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter as much as possible. With that goal in mind, terminology and character names exclusive to the Trails in the Sky games have been largely left unchanged.

A notable exception is the names of the Tetracyclic Towers, as these locations play a pivotal role in the story of 2nd Chapter, and thus have been adjusted to match the original games.

Please note that while we have updated most of the affected voice lines, a small number could not be revised and will remain as they are. We appreciate your understanding.

Other Adjusted English Terminology

“Blade-Type” quartz names have been renamed to use the names of the status ailments they inflict, matching later entries in the series. “Shield-Type” quartz names have been renamed to “Guard-Type” quartz to avoid confusion with the quartz Shield (formerly Arts Defense).

Adjusted French and German Terminology

Minor adjustments were made to French and German for consistency and accuracy. Updated terminology is as follows:

Bug Fixes

Fixed an issue in which the game would sometimes crash due to insufficient memory. Fixed issues in which the game would crash during certain operations. Fixed miscellaneous text errors. Fixed other miscellaneous bugs.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter and its Legacy 1.07 patch are available on the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, and PC. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter will come to the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, and PC on September 17, 2026.
