Smeg has done it again and this air fryer is almost too pretty to use

If there’s one thing Smeg is good at, it’s making kitchen appliances look like art.

From kettles and toasters to fridges and complete kitchens, its pastel colourways and glossy shades are well loved. 

Now, the Italian brand has turned its attention to the nation’s most-loved gadget of the last few years: the air fryer.

The AFC01 Dual Flavour Air Fryer is Smeg’s first standalone design, and it’s just landed on shelves, costing £199.95. 

Available in black, white, emerald green, and storm blue, it’s aesthetically pleasing while still offering the practicality of a countertop device.  

The retro silhouette is designed to slot into Smeg’s existing Collezione range, so if you already own something from the brand, it’ll look just as good next to your toaster or blender.  

It has a spacious 7.3-litre capacity, which can even fit a whole chicken, plus seven preset programmes and a manual mode to fine-tune your cooking. Use it to cook everything from meat and fish to veggies in one convenient drawer.

There are two cooking modes: Crispy, perfect for chips, vegetables and battered food like fish and chicken, and Juicy+Crispy, which prevents food from drying out inside while still keeping a crispy, evenly browned exterior. 

You can keep a close eye on what you’re cooking too, thanks to the see-through window with an integrated light, all without opening the drawer that lets precious hot air escape.

When your food is ready, the flip-top basket opens, and the non-stick coating makes cleanup easy. Better still,  the basket and rack are dishwasher-safe, and the handles are silicone, so you won’t burn your fingers.

Whether you’re a kitchen novice or seasoned cook, an air fryer is a healthier, quicker way to make your favourite meals, especially if you’re limited on oven space. You don’t even need to preheat it.
