Ever since the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077 in late 2020, the franchise has undergone a massive turnaround. CD Projekt RED's once-maligned video game is now almost unrecognizable, with an entire suite of performance fixes to make it run as intended and an overhaul of the systems to turn it into the title once promised. The first-person open-world action RPG is now viewed as a modern classic, even getting a massive and much-lauded expansion in Phantom Liberty, which brought Idris Elba into the world of Night City. However, part of its turnaround can also be attributed to the release of its acclaimed anime series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
