Love Story Creator Says Season 2 Can Focus on This Hollywood Power Couple

Connor Hines seems to be looking ahead as Love Story wraps its first chapter, teasing a fresh direction for a potential season two that could spotlight one of Hollywood’s most intense and talked-about relationships. Notably, the FX show has been labeled as a limited series, and its second installment hasn’t been announced yet.

As the first season of Love Story, centered on John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, nears its finale, creator Hines hinted that the potential next installment, which is yet to be officially announced, might explore the fiery romance between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, he said, “Maybe Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton… They have the right intensity,” pointing to the kind of emotional depth the series thrives on.

The two actors fell for each other while filming Cleopatra, despite both being married at the time. What followed was a whirlwind romance that played out both on-screen and off, capturing global attention. They featured together in 11 films, married in 1964, divorced a decade later, remarried in 1975, and eventually split for good in 1976.

Even years later, Taylor reflected on their connection with deep emotion. In a 1997 interview, she said, “Perhaps it sounds silly, I think we would have been married again,” adding that their love was so intense it sometimes became overwhelming. Her words underline why their story still resonates and could translate well into a dramatic series format.

Meanwhile, Love Story Season 1 is heading toward a tragic but known ending. The series revisits the 1999 plane crash that claimed Kennedy Jr. and Bessette’s lives. Constance Zimmer, who plays Carolyn Bessette’s mother, said the finale will still hit hard. “We all know what’s coming. It’s just how we’re telling it,” she told Decider.

With one heartbreaking chapter closing, the series may soon pivot to another iconic love story, if the second season is officially greenlit.
