Vin Diesel may have just confirmed Fast Forever isn’t the end of Fast & Furious after all. The franchise star’s response to a pointed question about the saga’s future left the door wide open.

Vin Diesel on whether Fast Forever is really the finale

Vin Diesel confirmed Fast Forever will serve as the franchise’s finale. The actor spoke at the 25th anniversary screening of The Fast and the Furious on Monday evening. He addressed the lengthy development process behind the 11th and final installment.

Diesel told Variety he went through an extensive process to arrive at the current script. “I’ve had to go through four sets of writers, four years of development, to get to something that I felt would be worthy of a finale,” Diesel said. He also revealed that reading the screenplay brought him to tears just weeks ago.

Inside the screening, the actor shared more personal details with the audience before the film played. “By the end of the script that we crafted and worked so hard to make right for you after four years, I was crying,” Diesel said. He added that his sister told him to stop crying after he finished reading it.

However, a reporter pressed Diesel on whether Fast Forever truly marks the end. The interviewer reminded him that he once promised no sequels after the original film. Diesel laughed and acknowledged the callback, admitting he was “vulnerable” back then. He playfully conceded the point without giving a definitive answer about future projects.

Meanwhile, Fast Forever director Louis Leterrier recently told Polygon he has not yet read the screenplay. Leterrier remained optimistic despite this, saying the ending will be “great.” He expressed confidence in his working relationship with both Diesel and Universal Pictures.

Fast Forever will start filming in December. The franchise has earned a combined worldwide gross of $7.3 billion across all installments.

Universal Pictures has dated the film for a March 17, 2028, theatrical release.
