Curious if iOS 18.5 brings a fresh batch of emojis to your iPhone? With Apple frequently expanding its emoji library in past updates, users are eager to see what’s new in the latest release. While iOS 18.4 added new designs, the current version takes a different approach.
Here’s what the iOS 18.5 update actually includes.
Is iPhone getting new emojis with iOS 18.5?
Apple did not add new emoji in iOS 18.5.
The last emoji update occurred in iOS 18.4, which introduced eight new designs to the emoji keyboard. According to Apple’s official release notes for iOS 18.5, the update includes a Pride Harmony Lock Screen wallpaper, bug fixes, and feature improvements, but no mention of new emoji.
The new emojis introduced in iOS 18.4 include objects, plants, and a smiley face. Apple Hub posted on X at 4:57 a.m. on April 1, 2025, “These are the new emoji available today with iOS 18.4,” showing an image preview of the additions. The post received over 473.5K views and more than 284 replies.
The emojis were part of broader updates in iOS 18.4, which also brought enhancements to the Photos app, Apple News+ recipes, and a new Sketch style in Image Playground. Apple listed the emoji update under the line: “8 new emoji including objects, plants and a smiley face are now available in the emoji keyboard.” Apple integrated these alongside system-wide improvements and accessibility enhancements.
iOS 18.5 instead focused on system stability and feature refinement. It introduced satellite service provider support on iPhone 13 models, fixed black screen issues in the Apple Vision Pro app, and enabled “Buy with iPhone” for purchases in the Apple TV app on third-party devices. Other additions included notification improvements for Screen Time passcode usage and expanded parental control tools.
Users interested in emoji updates should note that iOS 18.4 is the latest version to include new characters. No further emojis have been added as of iOS 18.5.
