Ryan Reynolds' recent comments about whythere should be an R-rated Star Wars movie have had me thinking about what such a project would look like. While the franchise has always explored darker themes, mainly around the all-consuming and destructive nature of the Empire, it always stops short of being as graphic as it could be. An R-rating would be a chance for a Star Wars movie to fully explore how brutal the Empire is and the toll it takes on ordinary characters.
