The 16-year-old missed out on local qualifying for the prestigious tournament for the second year running, posting a three-over 75 at Wellington Golf Club on May 8, seven shots short of advancing to the 36-hole final stage. Despite this setback, Charlie’s determination and talent are evident, especially considering he’s one of a record 10,202 entries for the US Open.

However, Charlie turned his disappointment into determination with a solid performance in the first round of the Team TaylorMade Invitational on Monday. At the Streamsong Resort’s Black Course in Bowling Green, Florida, Woods Jr. delivered a rollercoaster round featuring an eagle, eight birdies, five bogeys, a triple bogey, and just three pars on par-three holes.

He shot a 2-under 70, which put him tied for 13th in a field of 72 players, only three shots off the lead held by Tyler Watts and Luke Colton, who both carded impressive 5-under 67s. With this strong showing, Charlie Woods demonstrates the mental fortitude to overcome setbacks and pursue his ambitions despite the immense pressure of being Tiger Woods’ son.

Spieth’s round featured some thrilling moments, including chipping in from a greenside bunker for an eagle at the par-5 11th hole and another eagle at the par-5 16th hole.
