Greta to stream on Netflix next month

Chloë Grace Moretz’s R-rated thriller Greta is coming to Netflix next month. According to What’s on Netflix, the film will become available to stream on the platform on September 1, 2026.

The psychological thriller, directed by Neil Jordan and written by Jordan and Ray Wright, was released in U.S. theaters on March 1, 2019. Chloë Grace Moretz stars as Frances McCullen, a young New Yorker who discovers a handbag left on a subway train. She tracks down its owner, Greta Hideg, a French piano teacher living alone after being widowed.

Frances, who is also dealing with the recent death of her mother, develops a friendship with Greta and begins spending more time with her. However, Frances eventually discovers that Greta’s interest in her goes far beyond an ordinary friendship. When Frances attempts to end their relationship, Greta becomes increasingly obsessive and refuses to leave her alone. The new connection soon places Frances in a dangerous situation.

The film also features Isabelle Huppert as Greta, Maika Monroe as Erica Penn, Colm Feore as Chris McCullen, Stephen Rea as Brian Cody, and Zawe Ashton as Alexa Hammond.

The film holds a 61 percent critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 283 reviews. Meanwhile, its audience score stands at 42 percent. Nicolás Delgadillo of Discussing Film reported, “It only gets better, creepier and more unsettling as it goes on, and Huppert truly stands out, saving an otherwise mundane script.”
