The slasher prequel TV show Crystal Lake upends everything we know about Jason Voorhees’ origin story, and much of it ties back to the mysterious, sinister Project Argonaut program. The Peacock and A24 show has brought the franchise back to the screen after seventeen years, giving the story new energy and plenty of disgustingly gory kills. Instead of focusing on the hockey-masked, machete-wielding villain, Crystal Lake re-centers the OG Friday the 13th villain, Pamela Voorhees. Jason may be, for all intents and purposes, the immortal being haunting the lake, but his mother is equally terrifying.
