The Blade Runner franchise took a dive into the anime format, with great results, and it's completely bingeable. When it comes to the cyberpunk genre, two major pieces of media get credit for truly jump-starting and defining it: Neuromancer by William Gibson and the 1982 movie Blade Runner. They not only coined many of the terms still used today but also defined the visuals. On top of that, they established character archetypes, tropes, and the “high tech, low life” motto that drives cyberpunk.
