The legendary Thief franchise of stealth-action video games is enjoying a resurgence of late, re-emerging from the shadows last year with Thief VR: Legacy of Shadows. While not featuring the series' cynical, behooded protagonist Garrett as the main character, it was a flawed, if welcome, return to the dark fantasy steampunk setting of the City for the first time in over a decade. However, it's only the beginning of a greater renaissance. Remaster experts Nightdive Studios are working on an updated version of the groundbreaking first game, Thief: The Dark Project, for modern consoles this winter, and, away from the screen, Bit Bot Media is preparing a BackerKit campaign for a new comic, titled Thief: Pulse of Promise, set between The Dark Project and its sequel, The Metal Age.
