Every streamer has tried to replicate the success of Taylor Sheridan's shows. Netflix famously passed on Sheridan's magnum opus, Yellowstone, and has since tried to create family-oriented dramas aimed at the same demographic. Not too many of them have succeeded, however. Sheridan's streak of success, which has mostly been restricted to the Paramount+ streaming service, actually began a few years before the launch of Yellowstone in 2018. Before he became a streaming maven, Sheridan worked on a trilogy of spiritually connected neo-noir films that received terrific reviews and earned him an Oscar nod. The first of the lot was Sicario, directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Emily Blunt, Daniel Kaluuya, Josh Brolin, and Benicio Del Toro.
