Zoe BallAs rumours intensify about who will be taking over from Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman as the new hosts of Strictly Come Dancing, Zoe Ball has dropped a major hint that she’s in the running for the job.
Zoe’s name has repeatedly been mentioned as a potential contender to front Strictly, with The Sun reporting over the weekend that the former Radio 2 breakfast host was one of nine stars who’d made the shortlist, and would be taking part in an audition process over the next few days.
Last week, the presenter released a new episode of Dig It, the podcast she presents with Jo Whiley, which ended with a cryptic nod to Strictly.
When Jo asked if Zoe had any plans for the week ahead, she responded: “Absolutely nothing going on my end. Nothing… going on my end… at all… she said suspiciously.
“Hopefully, afterwards, I’ll be able to tell you about it all, but obviously at the moment I can’t say anything about it.”
Zoe then quipped: “What could she be talking about?”
Following this, she shared that she’d had her “roots done” and some “pieces put in”, “because I need to be glamorous for something”.
“Why would you be needing to be glamorous?” Jo responded, to which Zoe teased: “Oh just… you know… for doing the garden.”
“Strictly gardening, then?” her co-host concluded, prompting Zoe to bring an end to the episode.
According to The Sun, the BBC will be holding “chemistry tests” between its final nine stars until Friday, with Emma Willis, Rylan Clark, Angela Scanlon and comedian Tom Allen among those reportedly on producers’ wishlists.
Zoe has a long history with Strictly, having competed on the show during its third season way back in 2005, before going on to host the companion show It Takes Two for 10 years.
She also briefly presented the main show with Tess Daly when Claudia Winkleman was unable to make select live shows back in 2014.
