DirectorZack Snyder is coming off a bittersweet first for his career — he recently premiered a passion project at the Toronto International Film Festival, but it wasn't received with much enthusiasm. Snyder has never been a festival filmmaker, but he is certainly accustomed to poor reviews. In fact, none of his movies has been critically acclaimed, although several of them have been universally panned. In recent years, Snyder has had a particularly difficult relationship with critics, thanks to his two mega-budget Netflix fantasy films Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire and its sequel, Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver. His first brush with critical and commercial failure came in 2011 with another fantasy film fronted by a female protagonist. The movie in question is currently streaming on HBO Max, but only for a few more days.
