Key Takeaways

Batch V1.1 had 27 supporters when checked. It needs 80% support for two weeks. A batch can contain eight linked transactions. All-or-nothing mode avoids partial completion. The first Batch version never activated.

XRP Ledger’s Batch V1.1 amendment had support from 27 of the 35 validators tracked by XRPScan when checked. The amendment is nearing the 80% level required to begin its activation period and, if adopted, would let applications group up to eight connected transactions under one Batch operation.

Its practical purpose is to make multi-step payment and trading flows less fragile. An app could link several instructions that need to happen together instead of treating each one as a separate event that might leave the process incomplete.

Batch needs 80% support for two weeks

With 35 validators in the tracked set, the 80% threshold is reached at 28 supporting validators. That would start the activation period; the support level would then need to hold for two consecutive weeks before Batch V1.1 could become an XRP Ledger rule.

The two-week period gives validators time to keep reviewing the amendment while confirming that support remains stable. Code can be included in server software without changing mainnet behaviour. Validators must first show that they are prepared to run it under the same rules.

How a batch can prevent a half-completed payment

Batch V1.1 would allow up to eight linked transactions to be submitted together. The ledger would check and record the selected instructions in the same ledger close rather than requiring each step to be submitted and confirmed separately.

A marketplace sale provides a simple example. The buyer sends payment, the seller transfers an asset, and the marketplace receives its fee. In Batch’s all-or-nothing mode, every required instruction succeeds or the full batch fails. The buyer is not left having paid for an asset that was never transferred.

All-or-nothing is the relevant option when every part of a payment must succeed together.

Batch V1.1 at a glance
How linked XRP Ledger transactions could work
8×
Up to eight linked transactions
One Batch can contain as many as eight connected instructions.
✓
All-or-nothing protection
Every required instruction completes together, or the ledger rejects the full batch.

More than one account
A batch can coordinate instructions involving multiple participants.

What does not change automatically
Batch does not alter ledger-close speed or require every wallet and marketplace to support it.

V1.1 follows a Batch amendment that was stopped

The original Batch amendment had a flaw in the way it checked authorisation for transactions inside a batch. Security researchers identified the issue in February while the feature was still awaiting activation.

Validators were advised to withdraw support before it reached mainnet, so the flaw never affected user funds. The vulnerability disclosure details the response, which marked the earlier Batch implementation as unsupported.

Batch V1.1 replaces that implementation with the identified logic issue removed. RippleX says the revised version also underwent additional code review, testing and external security assessments before entering the current voting process.

With the revised code now approaching the required support level, Batch has progressed further than several other XRPL features still waiting for validator approval.

Batch is closer than XRPL’s planned lending system

Batch’s vote can be viewed alongside two other XRP Ledger changes moving through the amendment process. The fixCleanup3_3_0 proposal focuses on maintenance and safety issues affecting vaults, automated market makers and permissioned trading. It improves existing transaction paths rather than creating a new consumer-facing payment tool.

The planned institutional credit system remains further back. It needs both Single Asset Vaults and Lending Protocol to gain sufficient validator backing; approving only one would not create a usable lending market.

Batch has a narrower role. It gives applications a way to coordinate transactions that already exist on XRP Ledger, including payments, transfers and fees. Its 27 supporting validators place Batch closer to the activation threshold than the two amendments required for native lending, although an active amendment would still only provide the tool for apps to integrate.

Activation would make Batch available to developers

If Batch V1.1 completes the activation process, wallets, marketplaces and other services would decide whether to add it to their products. A wallet user may notice the change only when an application can complete a payment and asset transfer together instead of asking them to retry after one step fails.

Potential early integrations include services that already combine several actions for one customer request. Batch would let those services define which instructions must be completed before an operation is treated as finished.

Batch would make complex payment flows less fragile

Batch V1.1 would not change everyday XRP transfers by itself because its value is more specific: applications could link several required instructions and avoid treating a partly completed payment or trade as a finished transaction. If the amendment completes its activation period, developers could begin adding Batch to live XRP Ledger services.
