Sonja Sohn has broken her silence on her shocking exit from Will Trent in a two-part Instagram video. The actress, who played GBI deputy director Amanda Wagner for four seasons, hinted that her departure was not her choice. She told fans in the second video, “Once you get the pink slip, it’s just a job.”
Sohn expressed deep gratitude for the fan response to her character’s death in the April 14 episode. She said in her first video, “I have been so touched, just so taken with the response to Amanda’s passing.” The actress thanked fans for sending long messages of support and love to her page.
She acknowledged the limited power actors hold in production decisions. Sohn stated, “Actors are really low people on the totem pole when it comes down to the big structure.” She added, “When you get a pink slip, you don’t ask about it. You just say goodbye.”
The actress hinted at more details behind her exit but chose to hold back for now. She explained, “One of the things I was taught through this experience of being Amanda and of being in this situation is she’s a much more thoughtful, reserved character than I am.” Sohn also teased upcoming projects, including a memoir. She revealed, “You’re gonna learn about the first time I almost got written off a show on The Wire.”
Sohn captioned her second post with a direct message to the Will Trent fanbase. She wrote, “I cannot adequately express the overwhelming gratitude I feel for the fans who have poured their hearts out on my page.” She promised to honor that support by giving fans something to celebrate in the near future. Sohn concluded her video by saying, “The best years are yet to come. There’s plenty of Sonja Sohn coming up.”
