Following the movie’s surprising ending, Wagner Moura discussed the possibility of a sequel in an interview with ScreenRant. He explained that Jason made the right choice by sparing the mysterious creature instead of killing it.

He also connected the choice to Jason’s relationship with Ruth. Ruth repeatedly warns her father throughout the movie. Moura said, “His daughter is always telling him something, and he doesn’t listen to her. The entire film, she’s saying something, and he responds just with this sort of arrogance that adults have towards their children. And I was like, “Man, we really have to listen to everybody, but especially to our kids.”

Moura also explained that Ruth was right about the situation from the beginning. He added, “What she said from the beginning was right. She was right.” Moura believes Jason’s final decision showed that he had changed. “And the decision, therefore, I think the decision was, of course, first of all, he’s not killing anyone. And secondly, he listened to her,” he explained.

The Last House is Netflix’s new science fiction movie about a family trapped inside their home with no way to escape. The film stars Wagner Moura as Jason Delgado, Greta Lee as Ann, and Riley Chung as Ruth, alongside Emma Ho, Noah Alexander Sosnowski, and Gabriel Barbos.

The movie delivers one final surprise at the end. The family travels by boat and sends out a distress call. They want to know if anyone else survived. Someone eventually responds to their radio message. The unidentified person simply says “hello.”

The mysterious response leaves several questions unanswered. It also creates a possible setup for The Last House 2. Moura admitted he does not know if another movie will happen. However, he remains hopeful about returning as Jason.

There is currently no official confirmation of a sequel. For now, The Last House is available to stream on Netflix.
