The closing skit at the 2026 Oscars has led many to believe that YouTuber MrBeast will host the 2027 Oscars. While some believed it was a genuine announcement, many online users believe otherwise. The announcement comes a few months after news broke that, starting in 2029, the Oscars will be streamed exclusively on YouTube. So, is MrBeast really going to host the 2027 Oscars?

Here are all the details.

Is MrBeast hosting Oscars in 2027?

Currently, there is no official statement from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) or MrBeast about hosting the 2027 Oscars. While the skit at the end of the 2026 Oscars may suggest that the YouTuber could be hosting the next annual award show, it appears to be a parody.

The sketch recreates the scene from One Battle After Another, where Sean Penn’s Colonel Lockjaw is killed in an office. Many online users have responded in disbelief, hoping that it was a joke.

Furthermore, during an interview with Deadline, Rob Mills, EVP Unscripted & Alternative Entertainment at Walt Disney Television, noted that hosting the event is a very difficult job. “I will say Conan definitely, he has about as good as you [can hope for],” he added.

The video opened with Conan O’Brien waiting in a lobby. A man, who appeared to be an AMPAS executive, walked in and praised O’Brien for successfully hosting the Oscars. He then said they liked O’Brien’s work so much that they are making him the “Oscars Host for Life.” While the If I Had Legs I’d Kick You actor was still reeling in with the news, the man offered to show him his new office.

On their way, the executive continued to praise the talk show host. He noted how the viewers had not stopped talking about the event. Upon reaching the office, the man pointed to the nameplate on the door. It read, “CONAN O’BRIEN Host for Life.”

After the man left, O’Brien settled on a chair, adoring his new office. Meanwhile, a green gas was pumped through the air ducts, which seemed to kill the comedian. Two men wearing hazmat suits then dragged him out of the office and into an incinerator. The clip ended with someone changing the O’Brien’s name plate on the door to the one that read, “ MR. BEAST Host for Life.”

The 27-year-old YouTuber later posted the final shot of the skit on his social media.
