White Lotus Star Adam DiMarco Gets Honest About Intense Shoot: 'There's No Escape'

At this stage, it’s been well-documented that filming the third season of The White Lotus for a three-month stint in the Thailand heat made for a tumultuous experience for many members of the cast.

Well, it turns out that filming the show’s second iteration was no walk in the park, either.

During a new interview with The Independent, White Lotus star Adam DiMarco – who played the hopeless romantic Albie Di Grasso in season two – opened up about his intense experience of shooting the Emmy-winning drama in Sicily.

“That show’s crazy because there’s no escape,” he recalled. “You go out to dinner [together], you can’t just like sneak off. Sometimes you just wanna like not talk to anyone for a day.”

As a result, Adam claimed that he’d often find himself disappearing to one particular hotel suite that boasted a conversation pit that allowed himself to stay hidden during his downtime.

“At lunch, I would just sleep in there and I would lock the doors and I was like, ‘This is my room now’,” he said with a laugh. 

“Sometimes shoots can get to be a bit like Survivor or something… It’s like OK, ‘We have our alliance and then this is our like sub alliance or whatever’.”

Production on the upcoming fourth season of The White Lotus got underway in the south of France earlier this year.

This time around, the cast includes everyone from Steve Coogan, Heather Graham and Sandra Bernhard to Marvel’s Kumail Nanjiani, Oscar winner Sir Ben Kingsley and Vincent Cassel, who will be playing a new White Lotus manager, following in the footsteps of Murray Bartlett, Sabrina Impacciatore and Christian Friedel.

However, one face you shouldn’t expect to see is Helena Bonham Carter.

The British star was originally cast in The White Lotus’ fourth season, but stepped down due to creative differences just days into the shoot. Since then, her role has been reworked into a new character, who will be played by Laura Dern.
