For the first time in more than 20 years, we have not one, but two The Lord of the Rings movies in development, as Peter Jackson recently announced The Lord of the Rings: Shadows of the Past. This new project is co-written by none other than one of the biggest Lord of the Rings buffs around, Stephen Colbert, and he has already told fans what the story is all about: the very early days of Frodo's (Elijah Wood) quest carrying the One Ring, told in chapters III to VIII ofThe Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. These chapters are not part of Jackson's film trilogy, so what's so special about them that prompts a whole new movie?
