Voting rights lawsuit against Hazleton dismissed [PA]

Hazleton Mayor Jeff Cusat announced on Tuesday that the Department of Justice (DOJ) dismissed its voting rights lawsuit against the city. The DOJ filed the suit in January of this year, alleging that the city’s “at-large” method of electing city council members resulted in Hispanic citizens having less opportunity than others to participate in electing candidates of choice.
