Vision’s Avengers: Doomsday & Secret Wars Return Gets Unsurprising Answer

Paul Bettany recently addressed whether Vision will return in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday or its direct sequel, Secret Wars. Both movies are expected to be massive cinematic events. Accordingly, there is curiosity about which heroes will turn up. Notably, as of this writing, Bettany’s android superhero has not been formally confirmed for either feature.

On Josh Horowitz’s Happy, Sad, Confused, the host noted to Bettany that the actor previously teased that if he wasn’t in Avengers: Doomsday, he would likely be in Secret Wars. Likely not wanting to spoil anything or possibly uncertain about his involvement in both due to Marvel’s infamous secrecy, the actor offered a vague response.

“I think so,” he replied. “I mean, I think, you know, as much as much as — touch wood, kids in private school. You know, anything going on at Marvel, or they change their mind, you really do never know. It’s true that you never know, by the way.”

The 54-year-old actor recalled how he and other actors did not know that their characters died in Avengers: Infinity War beforehand and only found out on a particular day during filming. “They took us into a trailer with pre-vis, and everyone was sitting watching the screen, going, ‘Oh, I die,'” he further recounted. “Nobody knew. We didn’t know. So you really don’t know. They really do keep this stuff very secret.”

Bettany earlier seemingly teased his involvement in Avengers: Secret Wars a few months ago. While speaking with The Telegraph, he shared, “I think I’ve got some Avengers duties next year.”

Vision will return in VisionQuest, arriving on Disney+ on October 14, 2026. A teaser trailer was unveiled at Disney’s Upfronts presentation on May 13, 2026. Meanwhile, Avengers: Doomsday launches in theaters on December 18, 2026, with Secret Wars following on December 17, 2027.

Terry Matalas serves as the showrunner of the former, while Anthony and Joe Russo are the directors of the latter two. In addition to Paul Bettany, VisionQuest stars James Spader, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, James D’Arcy, Orla Brady, Emily Hampshire, and Ruaridh Mollica.
