US says it is expecting response to peace proposal soon as tensions flare in Strait of Hormuz

The United States said it was expecting an Iranian response, as soon as later last night, to its latest proposal to end the war in the Gulf, even as US and Iranian forces traded fire in the region and the UAE came under renewed attack.
