Underworld actress Kate Beckinsale returns to fight beasts and supernatural enemies across multiple movies. She has joined Twilight of the Dead, the final chapter in George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead saga, and will also star in a thriller where she helps a stranded heroine fend off killer sharks.
Twilight of the Dead marks the seventh instalment in the Night of the Living Dead franchise, directed by Doron and Yoav Paz (Plan A). The film’s treatment was written by Romero before his passing in 2017, with Beckinsale’s casting coming from a report by Deadline.
“Stepping into Romero’s world is the ultimate privilege for any genre filmmaker,” said the Paz Brothers in a joint statement. “This is more than a continuation, it’s a responsibility. We are committed to honoring his voice while delivering a visceral, terrifying, impactful experience for today’s audience that resonates beyond the screen.”
As per the report, Twilight of the Living Dead “set on a decimated earth where the last vestiges of humanity are trapped between warring factions and an evolving undead threat”.
Twilight of the Living Dead is produced by Roundtable Entertainment’s John Baldecchi, Sarah Donnelly, and Dominic Ianno, in partnership with Suzanne Romero. Additional producers include SSS Entertainment’s Bob Yari, Shaun Sanghani, Aanaxion’s Kenneth Kim, Ho Sung Pak, and George Furla.

Kate Beckinsale to star in a shark survival action movie
The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Beckinsale has joined White, a shark survival action movie directed by Evil Aliens helmer Jake West. She will be joined by Arrow star Katherine McNamara. The film is written by Dan Schaffer, with Beckinsale also executive producing.
The film follows Willa Harba, a struggling actress whose private jet crashes into the Pacific. Stranded and surrounded by great white sharks, Willa’s pleas for help are ignored by her boss, Barbara, played by Beckinsale. Instead, Willa’s distress signal is picked up by marine biologist Sam Swatek, played by McNamara.
“White is an incredibly elevated and intense adventure for the ages, filled with tension, emotion and ferocious sharks,” said Arianne Fraser, CEO of Highland Film Group.
“We are delighted to be working with producer Yariv Lerner who continues to be a guiding force behind some of today’s most innovative action films,” said Delphine Perrier, COO of Highland Film Group. “And with our wonderful cast led by Kate Beckinsale and Katherine McNamara, it’s the perfect addition to our Cannes slate.”
White is produced by Yariv Lerner, Dominic Burns, Crawford Anderson-Dillon, and Sky Morfopoulos. Executive producers include Beckinsale, Arianne Fraser, Delphine Perrier, Patrick Wintersgill, Kevin Glynn, Pauric Duffy, and Hannah Leader.
No release dates for either White or Twilight of the Dead have been announced.
