Russian forces struck Kyiv’s Northern Bridge on October 3, hit warehouses outside the capital, and attacked several other regions, while Moscow warned foreign diplomats that mass strikes on Ukraine would continue. Regional reports from October 2 and 3 put the toll at 9 civilians killed and at least 92 injured.
In Kyiv, a Russian drone hit the Northern Bridge in the morning, damaging the roadway and the trolleybus power lines. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said two people were injured, one of whom was hospitalized. Traffic from the left bank to the right bank was halted, then partially reopened. The Northern Bridge is the second Kyiv crossing hit by Russian drones in recent days. The Southern Bridge has been struck four times and remains closed to traffic. Restrictions also apply on four Kyiv bridges during air raid alerts.
Overnight, a strike set fire to two warehouse buildings in Hostomel, in the Bucha district of Kyiv Oblast. Kyiv Oblast head Tymur Tkachenko reported four people injured, including an 8-year-old girl with a shrapnel wound to her leg. A 66-year-old man was hospitalized with burns and an abdominal injury. UNIAN reported that a Hostomel warehouse belonging to Venta LTD, Ukraine’s third-largest pharmaceutical distributor, was hit. The region lost three civilians in a single day of strikes in September.
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Russia would continue “massive retaliatory strikes” and directed the warning at foreigners and diplomats in Kyiv. Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi said no foreign mission had requested relocation. Moldovan President Maia Sandu said three Russian missiles, including Banderol missiles, and two drones violated Moldova’s airspace and exploded on its territory. No casualties were reported.
In Sumy Oblast, Russian forces carried out nearly 80 attacks on 26 settlements in 16 communities using artillery, mortars, drones, and guided aerial bombs. The regional administration reported three people killed and 11 injured. Two of the dead, a 56-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman, were killed by artillery fire in the Krasnopillia community. A 59-year-old woman died in the hospital from wounds suffered in a guided bomb strike, the same weapon that killed a Sumy couple in September.
In Kharkiv Oblast, regional head Oleh Syniehubov said Russian forces attacked Kharkiv and 13 other settlements with six guided bombs, Lancet and Molniya drones, 17 FPV drones, and about 100 other drones. The attacks killed five people and injured 49. In Kharkiv city, two women aged 66 and 80 were killed and 42 people were injured, including three children. Three men were killed in the Zolochiv and Derhachi communities. Damage was recorded in the Bohodukhiv, Kupiansk, Izium, Kharkiv, and Chuhuiv districts.
On the morning of October 3, Russian strike drones hit Izium, setting fire to a warehouse at a processing enterprise and to private homes, and damaging an apartment building. The city military administration reported five people injured.
In Donetsk Oblast, regional head Vadym Filashkin said Russian attacks on October 2 injured 10 civilians, nine in Kramatorsk and one in Sloviansk. In Kramatorsk, 12 high-rise buildings, a private house, two administrative buildings, an industrial building, a shop, five garages, a bus, a truck, and six cars were damaged. In Bilozerske, in the Pokrovsk district, a high-rise building was destroyed.
In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Russian forces struck more than 10 times across three districts. A high-rise and a business center were hit in Dnipro, where four women aged 55 to 88 were injured, regional head Oleksandr Hanzha said.
In southern Ukraine, Zaporizhzhia Oblast absorbed 737 strikes on 55 settlements, including 20 airstrikes, 572 drone attacks, and 144 artillery strikes. Officials received 60 reports of damage, and two people were injured. In Kherson Oblast, regional head Oleksandr Prokudin said Russian forces shelled Kherson and 24 settlements, injuring four people and damaging five private houses, a post office, and a car.
In Mykolaiv, an October 2 attack with Shahed drones and an Iskander-M ballistic missile damaged port infrastructure, an office building, a hotel and restaurant complex, and a car service station. Three men were hospitalized. On October 3, Russia struck a Liberian-flagged cargo ship in an Odesa region port, killing a crew member and injuring three, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority said.
