The Only Way is Essex star Jordan Brook has revealed he’s been diagnosed with meningitis and encephalitis.
Earlier this month, the 31-year-old was admitted to the hospital with swelling in the brain.
However, he has now revealed his symptoms are being caused by the two viruses.
Jordan shared the news on Instagram in an emotionally charged video from his hospital bed.
‘I’ve been diagnosed with two similar viruses that are attacking similar parts of my body, he explained.
‘I’ve got viral meningitis and encephalitis together. That’s inflammation of the brain and the lining around it, so this isn’t something small or minor.
‘I’ve had CT scans and MRI scans, lumbar punctures, with round-the-clock care since I’ve been in this hospital.’
Jordan also revealed he’s at ‘minor seizure risk’ due to the inflammation and revealed that the swelling on his brain is ‘getting worse’.
‘It’s really, really tough,’ he said.
He finished the video by warning his fans about misinformation, telling them that the virus is not a joke.
Jordan added further context in the video’s caption, writing this is the ‘first time I’ve been strong enough to speak on this.’
He also thanked his doctors and healthcare providers before saying that while there was a long road ahead, his focus was simple.
He wants to get healthy and get home to my family. He finished the caption with the promise that he ‘will not beat’.
Following the news, Jordan was met with a wave of support froom wellwishers.
Apprentice star Tommy Skinner commented: ‘Sending you all the love. Stay strong, keep fighting… you’ve got this. Big things ahead with your baby on the way. The Skinner family are behind you all the way.’
‘Love you Jordan xxx ❤️ wishing you speedy recovery xxxx,’ added Amy Childs.
While Holly Hagan-Blythe commented: ‘You got this!! Sending so much love!!’
Meanwhile, Jordan’s fiancée Sophie Kasaei has said she’s praying for her partner after a ‘tough week’.
The pair announced they were expecting a baby in December 2025.
There is currently a meningitis outbreak in Kent. As of the time of writing, there have been 34 confirmed cases of the virus.
Health officials and experts have predicted that more cases will appear as the incubation time for the infection is between two and 14 days.
