As I flew into Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles, I had no idea that Bandai Namco would announce a roguelike. Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree took folks by surprise, and they won a lot of fans over with the game's vibrant art style and colorful cast. On the one hand, Towa is yet another roguelike to add to the pile of the increasingly oversaturated genre. On the other hand, having played it, I'm happy to report that it's not only promising but can also be enjoyed by up to four players simultaneously via co-op.
