If someone were to make a list of the most famous and important action stars to ever star in a Hollywood movie, Tom Cruise would have to be close to the top. Cruise kicked off his career years ago with more original and unique roles, but more recently, it’s been mostly franchise work, like reprising his role as Pete Mitchell in Top Gun: Maverick. Cruise has even been tapped to star in a third Top Gun movie, but it looks like the film won’t make it to the big screen anytime before 2028 or 2029. Later this year, he’ll return to the world of original filmmaking for the first time in years with Digger, which comes from Alejandro G. Iñárittu. The film co-stars other major figures, like Jesse Plemons (Bugonia) and Emma D’Arcy (House of the Dragon), and it’s been set for release on October 2.
