In 2024, when six Cal softball players knelt during the national anthem, the backlash was immediate and harsh. Fans hurled insults like “Stand up, California!” and “Liberal wokeness!” The tension even led to a benches-clearing scuffle and ejections. Despite the hate, the team and university stood firm, backing their right to peaceful protest and sparking a nationwide conversation on athlete activism.

The players who weren’t kneeling built a wall behind the kneeling players, and the team’s staff came in support of their players. “We will always stand by our student-athletes for exercising their right to peaceful protest, as well as student-athletes from our opponents,” the Cal staffer said. Fast forward a little more than a year, and the players are still being criticized for their peaceful protest. But the silver lining?

They’re getting immense support from the standout softball players like Jordan Woolery and Maya Brady, niece of the NFL legend, Tom Brady. On Monday, Woolery took to her Instagram and shared a picture of the players kneeling during the National Anthem. “Nobody is free until we are all free,” she captioned. “Grateful to be in a place where standing for what you believe in is never wrong. Love will always win, see you in OKC.”

Right after that went down, Tom Brady’s niece, Maya, re-shared that post in her IG story, slamming those who are criticizing the players, and straight-up admitting that hate will never win. “Never seen so much hate and inappropriate language spewed at players like I did this weekend. Absolutely disgusting. ZERO place for this in our sport or any!!!!” She wrote in her story.

While she didn’t shed light on the actual events, she was talking about. But looking at Woolery’s post, one can assume what Maya was referring toAnd it was certain that she was disgusted by the unwanted hate that the players of softball or any other sport are getting. “Hate will never ever ever ever win,” she added, “So, please remember that the next time you wanna open those nasty mouths.”

And get this, Maya Brady made it clear that no matter the hate they’re receiving, the Cal players will exercise their rights the next time they hit the ground. “Anyways those Californian liberals, commies, snowflakes, and whatever else you losers were calling them will be exercising THEIR RIGHT to stand or kneel for OUR national anthem in OKC HAHAHAHAHAHA,” she concluded

Just like that, the Cal players are getting the much-needed support. On the flip side of the spectrum, Tom Brady is also grabbing the spotlight outside of the NFL world. And not for the good reasons.

Tom Brady got booed at the Indy 500

The Memorial Day Weekend in Indianapolis became even more memorable. Why? Well, the event fell on the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army. And get this, to commemorate this historic mark, the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment’s Apaches just added a new layer to the race’s atmosphere. To spice things up, the fans went nuts when Tom Brady showed up at the Indy 500.

And honestly, it made sense. After all, Fox was covering the Indy 500 for the first time, and no doubt they brought their highest-paid star. To make it interesting, the guy showed up at the event in a race driver costume, as he practiced in a car with 7-time world champion Jimmie Johnson. Brady then posted on Instagram with the caption, “💍 x 14″, addressing the 7-time champion.

But things weren’t as straightforward as they seemed. In fact, the fans booed the NFL legend at the Indy 500. Yeah, you read that right. According to CBS4 Indy sports anchor Chris Widlic, who shared a video on ‘X’ stating, “Brady gets booed! Love it #Indy500.” Brutal. Brady and Indianapolis’ history dates back to his NFL days.

We’re talking Brady-Peyton Manning rivalry, their postseason battles, especially the Colts‘ epic 2006 AFC Championship game comeback, you name it. Even Brady once called Manning and Co., stating, “That group still gives me nightmares!” So yeah, a warm welcome for him in Indiana? That would be rare. And Tom Brady probably knows it.
