Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez are part of the cast for upcoming Illumination movie Not Alone.
The animation studio, which is also responsible for hits Despicable Me and Super Mario Bros (the eighth and second-biggest box office hits in their year of release, respectively), will see Timothée voice rocket mechanic Joe.
And Selena will be the voice of Fran, a “brilliant astro-botanist who is developing the world’s first-ever plant-fueled rocket,” Illumination shared in an announcement at the Annecy Animation Festival.
The sci-fi comedy marks Timothée’s first-ever feature-length animated movie role. Selena has previously voiced characters in Hotel Transylvania, Doolittle, Horton Hears A Who!, and some Arthur movies.
Its plot involves Joe and Fran’s “spark”-filled relationship as they work together to launch a rocket.
Three tiny and chaotic aliens move in with the mechanic (Dunk, Welly and Shirm) as they flee Zandro, a determined cop.
Dunk will be voiced by Rob Brydon, Welly will be played by Diane Morgan, and Jamie Demetriou will star as Shirm.
Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein, meanwhile, is the voice behind Zandro.
(BTW, Jamie Demetriou has previously appeared on Only Murders In The Building alongside star Selena).
It’s not the first time the Spring Breakers and Dune stars have worked together.
They also co-starred in rom-com A Rainy Day in New York.
On Instagram, fans seemed excited to see the pair back together on screen.
Writing under Universal’s post announcing the movie, one fan wrote: “SO EXCITED!! Timothée and Selena teams up again”.
Another joked, “A rainy day in New York 2 looks crazy”.
And yet another comment reads: “TIMOTHEE? SELENA? IN A FILM TOGETHER!?!?!?”
Not Alone will come out in cinemas on April 16, 2027.
