Thor just crashed the X-Men’s party, and it’s not what anyone expected. Marvel Studios dropped a new clip from X-Men ’97 Season 2 that features a surprising cameo from the God of Thunder.

X-Men ’97 Season 2 finds a way to use Thor in new clip

Marvel Studios shared a new clip from X-Men ’97 Season 2 on X ahead of its July 1 premiere on Disney+. The studio captioned the post, “In our time, we’re called the X-Men.” The clip showcases the X-Men battling the Final Horsemen of Apocalypse.

The clip shows Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Jubilee struggling against the four Final Horsemen. The Horsemen include Pestilence (Ichisumi), War (Decimus Furius), Famine (Jeb Lee), and Death (Sanjar Javeed). Storm, Wolverine, and Morph arrive as reinforcements and turn the tide of battle.

Thor does technically appear in the clip, but Morph actually takes his form. Morph’s shape-shifting powers allow for cameo appearances by various Marvel characters. Captain America appeared during Season 1, so other Avengers could factor into Season 2.

The Season 1 finale saw the X-Men defeat Bastion and prevent Asteroid M from destroying Earth. However, the heroes were transported through time during the process. Some of them encountered a younger En Sabah Nur, teasing Apocalypse as the central villain.

Season 2 follows the X-Men divided and thrown across different eras in time. The team struggles to navigate their return home to the 1990s. Meanwhile, suspicious foes and new strains of mutant intolerance rise during their absence.

The season premieres with three episodes on July 1 on Disney+. New episodes will then release weekly through August 12, totaling nine episodes. The voice cast includes Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, and Cal Dodd as Wolverine. Alison Sealy-Smith returns as Storm, with Lenore Zann as Rogue and George Buza as Beast.

Disney+ has already renewed the series for a third season.
