'This Is Insane': Trump Torched For Naming Strait Of Hormuz After Himself

Donald Trump has been condemned after he appeared to name the Strait of Hormuz after himself.

The US president posted a map of the economically-vital waterway calling it the “Trump Strait”.

The Strait, which used to carry around one-fifth of the world’s oil and natural gas, has been effectively closed by Iran since America and Israel launched a war on the country at the end of February.

That has led to a rise in oil prices, pushing up inflation around the world.

Iran announced on Friday that it had presented America with a “concrete” seven-day plan to re-open the Strait.

Speaking at the United Nations in New York, Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said: “The choice now rests with the United States.

“If the necessary conditions are met, the strait can be reopened and a normal maritime passage restored within seven days.”

But hours later, Trump posted the image on his Truth Social account referring to the “Trump Strait”.

Trump has previously renamed the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America, and changed Lake Ontario’s name to Lake America. 

His apparent attempt to name the Strait of Hormuz after himself drew criticism on social media.
