In the early days of the genre, superhero fare on TV and film was, shall we say, not exactly prestigious. As long as you tuned in at the same bat-time, same bat-channel every week, you could see the Shakespearean efforts of Adam West's Gray/Purplish Knight and his "Bam, kapow!" skirmishes against the likes of Vincent Price's Egghead in the campy 1966 series Batman.
