The new Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, is still days away from its theatrical release date, but rumors regarding a potential sequel have already started to appear. Sigourney Weaver, who is making her Star Wars debut in the film, recently added to the discourse by giving a definitive answer on her return in the yet-to-be-confirmed follow-up, also sharing details about its possible setting.

During a recent interview with GamesRadar+ in London, the two-time Golden Globe winner confirmed that she is ready to reprise her Mandalorian and Grogu role if Lucasfilm greenlights a sequel.

“Well, in an ideal world, I’d love to make another Mandalorian and Grogu, because it was so much fun to work with Jon Favreau,” Weaver said. “And I’m a huge admirer, and just to be in this world, for me, it was cool. And I really like my character, and I’d love to do more work with Pedro and his sidekick.”

Notably, the Hollywood veteran portrays Colonel Ward in the first big-screen Star Wars project since 2019’s Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. Ward serves as a commander in the New Republic’s Adelphi Rangers, having once been a pilot for the Rebel Alliance.

Weaver then teased what the setting of a possible sequel could be, stating, “I think that, secretly, we’re all hoping maybe this could produce another one that would take us further into the Outer Rim and more adventures.”

So far, Lucasfilm has not shared any official updates on a possible sequel to The Mandalorian and Grogu. The fate of a potential follow-up project will most likely depend on the box office performance of the new film. Recent projections have predicted an $80 million domestic opening-day return, leaving many Star Wars fans worried about its likelihood of making a sizable profit at the box office. The film will be released in theaters on May 22, 2026.
