The Legend of Vox Machina Season 4 Gets Major Release Date Update

A new update from IGN Live 2025 confirms that production is underway for The Legend of Vox Machina Season 4, offering a rare status update and hinting at a possible 2025 release date. Travis Willingham revealed that voice recording has begun, as the animated series continues adapting Critical Role’s original Dungeons & Dragons campaign.

During Critical Role’s IGN Live 2025 panel, Travis Willingham confirmed that work is underway on The Legend of Vox Machina Season 4. “We’re working on Season 4 of The Legend of Vox Machina,” Willingham said, adding that this development took place alongside the production of Mighty Nein and Critical Role’s third campaign, which concluded in February 2025. He described the overlap between these projects as a “wild thing” due to the mental shift between characters.

Amazon officially renewed Season 4 in October 2024, but fans received few updates until Willingham’s announcement. Season 3 ended with the group splitting up after they resurrected Percy and teased a looming threat from The Whispered One, also known as Vecna. The new season will likely reunite the team to face this danger.

Willingham also provided updates on Critical Role’s next animated series Mighty Nein. “We’ve recorded the entire first and second season,” he stated, confirming that both seasons are finished. The show will differ from Vox Machina by focusing on strangers learning to work together, and the production team has included the “moments you as fans and we as players and GMs want to see.”

The Legend of Vox Machina has released a new season each year since its 2022 premiere. The team is currently recording voice work for The Legend Of Vox Machina Season 4, keeping a 2025 release date window in sight. The series started as a Kickstarter campaign before Amazon acquired the rights for Seasons 2 and beyond.

Willingham confirmed that the team is developing new video game and interactive projects. They reportedly plan to launch the first title later in 2025. The game does not take place in Exandria, but the team will release more Critical Role-based projects. They will share additional updates in summer 2025.
