The Academy Awards are Hollywood's night of nights.

Known to fans as the Oscars, a host of big names made their way down the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, including the likes of Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway and Nicole Kidman.

Aussie star Rose Byrne, 46, was nominated for her very first Oscar for the film, If I Had Legs I'd Kick You.

The 46-year-old got a special mention at the start of the show from host Conan O'Brien.

But unfortunately, the Aussie star narrowly missed out on the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role after it went to Irish star, Jessie Buckley, for Hamnet, which she stars in opposite Paul Mescal.

Another Aussie star missing out on an Oscar this year was Jacob Elordi, who was nominated for his role in Frankenstein. The gong went to Sean Penn for One Battle After Another.

Here's the full list of Oscars nominations and winners for this year's event.
