2025 was a rollercoaster year for Derek Haas, who finally delivered his long-awaited crime thriller, Countdown, to Prime Video. The show featured big stars like Jensen Ackles and the late Eric Dane, and although it was a fan-favorite, it didn’t earn the numbers required to score a Season 2 renewal, and Prime Video made the tough choice to cancel the show after only one season. This was devastating for the many fans of the show, who consistently pushed it into the Prime Video top 10 during the duration of its first season. Fortunately, Haas has plenty of other work to fall back on, so the cancellation of Countdown likely doesn’t sting as much as it could. Haas is also the creator of the trio of interweaving procedurals that have come to be known as the One Chicago universe.
