With The Fantastic Four: First Steps fast approaching its release date, Marvel fans have finally received an update regarding the runtime of the film. According to a recent theater listing, the Matt Shakman-helmed project will not only kickstart Phase Six of the MCU but will also serve as the beloved franchise’s longest theatrical outing in two years.
AMC reveals The Fantastic Four: First Steps possible runtime
As conveyed by AMC Theatres, The Fantastic Four: First Steps will have a runtime of 2 hours and 10 minutes. Incidentally, the 130-minute runtime for the introduction of Marvel’s First Family into the MCU puts it on par with the Robert Downey Jr.-led Iron Man 3 and Chris Hemsworth-led Thor: Ragnarok — both of which also had the same duration.
This means that First Steps will be the longest MCU project since the release of 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Following James Gunn’s final installment in his Guardians trilogy, Marvel Studios seems to have opted for a shorter runtime for all its movies. While 2023’s The Marvels wrapped up in under 105 minutes, 2024’s box-office giant Deadpool & Wolverine clocked in at two hours and eight minutes. In a similar fashion, Captain America: Brave New World’s runtime was just shy of the two-hour mark. Meanwhile, the recently released Thunderbolts* runs for a bit longer than its peers, with a duration of two hours and six minutes.
Previous reports had claimed the upcoming movie’s runtime to be around the 2 hours and 20 minutes mark. However, with edits and cuts happening until the very last minute of production, the status quo may have changed drastically since then. That being said, Marvel has yet to share any official word regarding the runtime of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Fans will not have to wait long to find an accurate answer, as the movie comes out on July 25, 2025.
