The possibility of a new romance kicking off in EastEnders has got everyone talking.

Oscar Branning (Pierre Counihan-Moullier), who remains one of the BBC One soap’s greatest characters, quite literally bumped into newcomer Josh Goodwin (Joshua Vaughn), spilling his milkshake all over himself in the process.

Awks? You’d think so and for a second it was, with a momentary silence following as Oscar – who had mentioned his desire for said milkshake earlier in the day – was left frustrated by the loss of his favourite beverage.

But his demeanour swiftly changed upon locking eyes with Josh.

In what can only be described as an incredibly romcom-esque exchange, the two boys held one another’s gaze. ‘You know, there are easier ways of getting my attention?’, Oscar said with a grin as Josh responded with a giggle.

‘Banana?’, asked the newcomer after taking a taste of the split milkshake on his jumper. ‘Good shout’.

Josh walked off and Oscar’s eyes followed. Josh glanced back and Oscar once more held his sight as both lads struggled to resist a smile.

Something special was certainly brewing and EastEnders fans thought so too, with the possible couple’s meeting scene having already gone viral on social media – and an overwhelmingly positive response followed.

We love to see it.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Liam wrote: ‘They are absolutely electric, it’s insane the chemistry off of one short scene,’ while another fan said they ‘already ship’ the couple.

Mikey was similarly enthused, writing ‘okaaayyyy’ while over on Instagram, user seb2za17q said that they ‘love these two’ already.

Josh and Oscar’s cute meeting also grabbed the attention of viewers who haven’t watched EastEnders in quite some time and it’s made them want to start tuning in once more.

‘Time to start watching Eastenders again,’ said LeVaughn, a sentiment echoed by ell, who added: ‘i might have to tune back in’. X user Thierry added that they also ‘need’ to watch the show again in the wake of Oscar and Josh crossing paths.

EastEnders fans previously predicted that Oscar would romance Josh, the estranged twin brother of Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness), who he dated previously.

Jasmine is currently in prison, accused of the murder of Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey), who she killed in self-defence to protect mum Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan), despite tormenting her previously for months.

Oscar was dating Jasmine, who desperately tried to get him to leave the Square with her – and even lied about his dad Max Branning (Jake Wood) making a move on her in a bid to get him to leave.

Max reiterated after Jasmine was jailed that Jasmine wasn’t good for him and thus he cut ties with her.

The possibility of Oscar and Josh starting a romance was dashed on Thursday, as Oscar discovered the newcomer’s connection to Jasmine.

He told Josh that he actually wanted to be with Jasmine, and said it would be better if they forget their brief interaction happened.

But is this really the end?

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One or stream from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
