John Carpenter’s slasher classic Halloween from 1978 remains one of the most beloved and influential horror films in movie history, but its myriad of sequels and reboots have received far less acclaim. While Halloween III: Season of the Witch has solidified its status as a cult classic and David Gordon Green’s 2018 legacy sequel has its fair share of admirers, the vast majority of the Halloween films that followed Carpenter’s original have been met with reception ranging from ridicule to hatred.
