The Boys Season 5 Creator’s Gen V Comments Disprove Homelander’s Killer Theory

Eric Kripke has shared some surprising opinions regarding the relevance of the Gen V series to The Boys Season 5, seemingly disproving a significant fan theory about Homelander’s death. In a recent interview, the creator of Supernatural opened up about how the two seasons of Gen V tie into the final installment of The Boys, which premieres on Prime Video next month.

The Boys Season 5 creator had this to say about Gen V

Despite being the co-developer of the Jaz Sinclair-led spin-off, Eric Kripke has revealed that one does not need to watch Gen V to understand The Boys’ fifth season properly. “Gen V is not required viewing,” he told SFX magazine.

While Kripke did admit that seeing the spin-off would provide additional context for certain characters, he reaffirmed that its viewing wasn’t an unskippable requirement. “Had you watched Gen V, you would understand a little more why that is,” the producer noted while talking about Sister Sage’s (Susan Heyward) “heartbroken” state in The Boys Season 5 due to her short-lived affair with Thomas Godolkin in Gen V season 2.

Kripke added, “That’s about the level we keep it in. People should be prepared for the Gen V kids to not come in and save the season. We’ve been following The Boys for five years, and it’s time to bring that story to a head. I’m not here to make some crazy Marvel multiverse. I want to end that story well.”

With The Boys creator confirming that Gen V kids will not be taking center stage in Season 5, this directly contradicts a popular fan theory about the death of Homelander. Ever since Sinclair’s Marie Moreau made her debut in Gen V, many viewers have hypothesized that it would be her blood-bending powers that’ll end Homelander’s tyrannical reign. Nevertheless, Kripke’s comments about the spin-off suggest a much smaller role for Moreau and friends in The Boys Season 5.

The final installment of the fantasy thriller comes out on Prime Video on April 8, 2026.
