In the build-up to The Boys Season 5, series creator Eric Kripke has promised a host of high-stakes deaths in the show’s final installment, possibly throwing shade at Stranger Things‘ relatively safer finale. The television producer fired shots at sci-fi projects that shy away from killing off major players in a recent interview, confirming that The Boys won’t be following such a script.
Eric Kripke urges The Boys fans not to ‘get too attached’ to Season 5 characters
While speaking with SFX Magazine, Kripke reaffirmed the violent nature of The Boys’ last season, adding that there will be vital “casualties” in the edition.
“You can let people have the emotional confrontations that they’ll never recover from. We wanted to take full advantage of that, having these mind-blowing moments. It’s a battle, and there are going to be casualties. It would be unrealistic not to,” he said (via GamesRadar+).
The Boys Season 5 boss then proceeded to take a dig at sci-fi shows, possibly including Stranger Things, when he called out that some of them choose not to kill any pivotal characters in their finale. He noted, “It bums me out when you have a big, epic sci-fi show, and then at the end, it’s like, ‘Oh, everyone’s fine.’ I keep yelling at the screen, ‘Things cost things, you can’t just get away with this!’ So yes, I wouldn’t get too attached to any single character.”
Notably, Stranger Things concluded its five-season run in December 2025 with a two-hour finale. Many expected a host of original and fan-favorite characters to lose their lives in the final showdown against Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). However, in the end, everyone managed to scrape through, including Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), who possibly faked her death to fend off malicious government officials.
The highly anticipated Boys Season 5 is currently on track to hit Prime Video on April 8, 2026.
