How do you define a thriller? Some say a great thriller novel must have high stakes, while others point to psychological tension or a seemingly uncrackable mystery that hangs over the main characters. No matter what ingredients you favor, though, most readers agree that a thriller has done its job if it keys up the reader near the point of breaking. By act three, the reader should be begging for the murderer to be found, for the lost boys to come home, or for the nefarious government plot to finally be exposed.
