It felt like the fashion at the Oscars last night was off somehow, like everything lately. There were some standout looks but nothing that truly blew me away. I’ve only seen one person raving about the fashion and I suspect they’re a bot. Nominee Teyana Taylor was in a formfitting Chanel gown with a sheer bodice panel and a skirt made of layers of black and white feathers. This is the kind of body conscious fashion we’ve seen from her this season, with the exception of her excellent Burberry coatdress at the BAFTAs. She looked banging as usual and this gown is incredible, it’s just not my taste. The top is giving figure skater. That might be why this looked better in motion, like when she went on stage for One Battle After Another’s Best Picture win.
Presenter Nicole Kidman was also in Chanel, in a blush, cream and silver bustier and pencil skirt combo with a feather peplum. She looked like she was having fun and I love her styling. She has great hair people, as I said on one of our recent podcasts.
Best actress winner Jessie Buckley was in this pink and red Chanel gown that would be a standard red carpet gown apart from the glaring color combination. Some of you liked this but I found it gimmicky. I dislike that pepto pink color, especially paired with the crimson bustline. I’ll say something nice – her hair, makeup and jewelry were amazing. I’m also really happy she won. Her performance was heartbreaking and she ran a great campaign.
Presenter Pedro Pascal was getting buzz for shaving off his mustache. He is a beautiful man and while I like him better with facial hair he still looks amazing. He was also in Chanel! I love that he’s not wearing a typical suit.
