Easter is finally here, but for weeks now the supermarket shelves have been filled with seasonal treats.
We’re talking chocolate bunnies, eggs, and hot cross buns galore.
But in the mind of the British public, there’s one Easter snack that’s in a league of its own – and that’s Mini Eggs.
Cadbury might’ve been one of the first to do it, but the concept has become so popular that supermarkets have started releasing own-brand versions, including the M&S Speckled Eggs, an idea that’s proved so fruitful it’s led to other creations, including the Speckled Egg Cookie and Brownie.
Now, if the original Mini Eggs are more your bag, you’ll no doubt be excited to learn that Tesco is giving away free packets of them this Easter.
How to get free Mini Eggs
Thinking about taking part? It’s relatively simple, as all you’ll need to do is check your Tesco app to see if you can claim a packet free of charge.
But there is a bit of a catch, as only certain shoppers will be able to nab some.
Tesco has selected one million Clubcard members for this treat, and if you are one of them, you’ll find a digital coupon for a free 74g bag of Cadbury Mini Eggs in your app.
You’ll need to be quick if you do have a coupon, though, because they can only be used over the Easter weekend, with the offer running from Thursday, April 2, to Monday, April 6.
Shama Wilson, group membership and loyalty director at Tesco: ‘Easter is a special celebration, and we wanted to treat Clubcard members to something they’ll really love.
‘We know Cadbury Mini Eggs are a firm family favourite at this time of year, so we’re offering some lucky customers an extra little treat when they visit one of our Tesco stores this Bank Holiday.’
If you’ve been a Mini Eggs loyalist in the past, infamous for sneaking a pack into your basket, you could be more likely to get lucky, too, as the coupon offering is based on past shopping behaviours.

Are Mini Eggs the best Easter treat?
That’s not all that’s going on in the world of Easter treats.
If you’ve left buying an egg for your loved ones to the last minute, there’s one supermarket you’ll want to sprint to.
In a bid to find the best seasonal treats on the high street for 2026, researchers at The Good Housekeeping Institute tried a whopping 102 products, ranging from supermarket own-brand bargains to high-end items.
And apparently, one supermarket has really nailed its own-brand chocolate this year.
Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference The Mint One Belgian Dark Chocolate scored a whopping 89/100, making it the overall highest scoring egg, beating big brands like Cadbury and Lindor to the top spot.
Testers praised its vibrant mint-choc aroma, glossy finish and satisfying crunchy pieces.
And at £10 for 230g, it’s also one of the more affordable on the list.
