In collaboration news I didn’t see coming, Teen Vogue has partnered with Wattpad Books to launch an original romance series. It’s titled I Saw the Signs, and it will consist of original short stories by Tay Marley, Ariana Godoy, E.M. Wilson, and Anna Todd. The stories will have everything from “bookstore meet-cutes” to horse-riding champions, and will loosely feature astrology. I can’t find anything that states the books will be YA, but it’s kind of assumed, since Tay Marley is a YA author, and because of Teen Vogue’s target audience. The first story, Under the Northern Stars by Tay Marley, is out October 19th.

As for the new books out this week, they are so on point for us seasonal readers. There’s dangerous magic at a prep school, a heist-filled romance between rival gang members in the 1940s in San Francisco’s Chinatown, and lots more.

Just by looking at the cover, I can tell this eats. This debut is set in San Francisco in the 1940s, when two rival crime families are ruling Chinatown. Things are not off to a good start for the paur, once Zach messes up Alexis’ plans. But then comes the heist—a heist that could save both families and allow Alexis’ father to finally see her as worthy of taking over the family business. But it’ll mean working with Zach…which makes her vulnerable in more ways than one. —Erica Ezeifedi
