Taylor Swift's Patient Zero Music Video Features Some Celebrity Cameos You Might Have Missed

Taylor Swift’s fans have already spotted a few familiar faces in her new Patient Zero music video.

Last week, it was teased that Taylor would star alongside Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell in the accompanying video for the lead single from her new project The Encore, a deluxe edition of her latest album The Life Of A Showgirl.

However, when the clip premiered during Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), it became apparent that there were more stars to look out for over the course of the video.

Straight away, we noticed Cara Delevingne in a party scene, looking cosy with Colin’s character as both Dakota and Taylor look on.

But you might have also clocked some sports-related cameos in the background, too.

NFL star Matthew Stafford also makes an appearance in Taylor’s Patient Zero clip, as does former ice hockey pro Jarret Stoll and marketing exec Steven Cundar.

Interestingly, the latter two are both in relationships with the sports commentators Erin Andrews and Charrisa Thompson, respectively. Both couples attended Taylor and Travis Kelce’s wedding earlier this year. 

Swifties have also picked up on the fact that Taylor first teased Cara and Matthew’s cameos during what appeared to be a nonsensical skit at the Emmys earlier this month, which has now been revealed to be full of her signature “Easter eggs”.

A non sequitur “from the vineyard” appears to refer to the English translation of Cara’s surname, while “Aries” seems to allude to Matthew’s team, the Los Angeles Rams.

“North Or South”, meanwhile, appeared to be a clue to Dakota’s leading performance (think of the similarly-named US states) while “saccharine” was seemingly a nod to Colin’s role in the detective series Sugar.

Since its release last week, The Encore has beenlargely panned by critics, but that clearly hasn’t put people off from streaming it, as Taylor isstill on course to occupy the top three slots on the UK singles chart with tracks from the deluxe release.
