Most sci-fi series have a core concept that allow them to last for years. One of the biggest examples is Stargate SG-1, which built on the Stargatemovie's core concept of using ancient portals to explore alien worlds. Not only did this lead to a fleet of spinoffs, but it also kept the core concept of the movies by explaining that the world's myths actually sprung from alien encounters. While Stargate fans are mourning the loss of a potential reboot at Prime Video, there's another sci-fi series worth checking out that took the kind of wild swings you'd never see in Stargate SG-1 or Star Trek.
